This 2.3L Ford Duratec powered Mk2 Ford Escort initially came to us for only a turbo manifold, but during consultation the decision was made to go further.
First an improved and re-designed crossmember was fabricated for the RX8 gearbox conversion using polyurethane mounting, to ensure the engine was aligned correctly in the chassis.
A bespoke hotside kit was designed consisting of an equal length SCH10 316L stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold and 3” 316L stainless steel downpipe with smooth flowing wastegate recirculation, making sure that the turbo can spool as efficiently as possible and that the wastegate can reliably manage boost levels.
Finishing up the project with some tightly packaged coldside pipework that had to be integrated directly into the turbo compressor housing and intercooler, A full set of tig welded aluminium coolant pipes, and a hand built Coolant header tank, with AN Fittings to ensure easy self-bleed of the system and to accomodate for cooling to turbo core and wastegate.
